The first thing that occurred to him about having time on his own was how much reading he would get done and sent shivers down his spine. Ambrose scanned his living room and smiled. It had taken all day to get everything in order despite use of magic, but once he’d poured himself a coffee, he’d be ready to crack open his first book in his very own home. As he completed his thought, a knock sounded at the door. The prospect of an unrehearsed conversation with a nonmagical creature made him feel woozy, but he opened the door with a charming smile nonetheless. “Greetings!” Ambrose exclaimed upon swinging the door wide. Squinting sleepily through the silent night at the boy’s muscular form as he took off his jacket and slipped into bed beside him, Theo took a deep inhale of the coldness lacing Robin’s skin. “You’re freezing,” Theo whispered in a croak. The clock ticked from 04:22 to 04:23 and Robin remained silent, but Theo wasn’t prepared for what came next. Without warning, Robin broke into heavy sobs. His whole body shook like waves crashing heavily against a mess of rocks. Again and again. “Can I hold you?” Theo check, his voice breaking as a reaction to the pain he was witnessing. Robin nodded frantically, prompting Theo to scoop him in his arms and squeeze him close. Theo massaged his thumb in a circular motion on Robin’s back and kissed his forehead.

It suited him coming down to breakfast, working with cadavers and conducting research at the Academy of Unseen Arts at night. Of course he loved Hilda, Zelda and his young cousin. But after one too many complaints from Zelda about boxers left from his lovers and late night visitors, Ambrose realised it might be time to finally spread his wings. And what majestic wings they were! He flicked his hand through the air and threw the entirety of his possessions into stacks, before leaning back against the wall with his hands in the pockets of his dressing gown to admire his handy work. "Aunts," Ambrose bellowed as he moved towards the kitchen for a cup of tea. "What is it, love?" Hilda enquired from she stood stewing apples. "I'm moving out."

Chapter Five We're almost there, friends. This is the penultimate chapter. After this I fancy some Ambrose fanfiction and maybe a 5 years on Theo & Robin... Any suggestions? Theo found Robin on a sofa reading a textbook. He could barely breathe, let alone speak. What if he was loveable? Worse, what if he wasn't? With the bullying and hiding who he was for so long, he'd scarcely given himself a chance to imagine he might fall in love. Theo decided to take a running start. "Hey, Robin." He landed on the sofa beside him, tempted to slip his arm around the boy's waist. "Hey, Theo. What's up?" Theo didn't hear the words as they tumbled from his mouth, but he felt it when Robin agreed to go to the carnival with him. But a lurking suspicion hit Theo at Robin's reaction to the mention of the carnival. It was almost discomfort, but too subtle for Theo to press it. He fancied himself as a man who took up space; who was suave and gentle and knowledgeable like Sabrina's cousin, Ambrose, but presently he just felt angry and small. Despite his short comings, Theo was determined to present himself as fierce. When Sabrina enlisted his help to watch Nick at Dorian's bar and make sure he didn't drink himself to death, Theo was happy to be of service. The bar wasn't like bars Theo's dad drank in in Greendale - all peeling paint, stench of alcohol and piss, sticky floor board - Dorian's bar was the opposite. It smelt sweet and musty, like aged perfume. Everything was dark and decadent, and downright beautiful.

CHAPTER TWO [Please leave comments and requests] Robin avoided the morning’s classes leaving Theo unable to concentrate. He chewed the end of his pencil until it was little more than a stump and snapped at a couple of the basket ball guys when they asked if he’d be at practise. By lunchtime, the void feasting on his stomach made Theo feel like he was going to puke. He retreated to the library to avoid Sabrina, Roz and Harvey. And that was when he spied him… Huddled amongst the shelved of books, stained hoodie pulled tight around him and head nestled in his knees – Robin. Theo padded carefully on the freshly vacuumed carpet so as to not wake him. A gentle purr confirmed he was sleeping. Theo laced his arm around Robin’s back and pulled the boy in close. CHAPTER ONE [Please leave comments and requests] Streaks of glacial water slashing across his face and bunched up under the shooting gallery carnival stand, cowered Robin Goodfellow. The growling of his stomach almost drowned out the echoing of bells, screaming and music that stained the cursed ground below him. It would be simple to go grovelling back to his Master for a bowl of porridge, warmth and some blankets to sleep in, but every time the image of a fire or food drifted past his fatigue-blurred vision, Robin drew Theo back into his mind. He had to stay strong for Theo. How would he accept Robin if he knew the truth? Would it be enough to be the victim of the situation or would his new friend, his first ever friend, hate him for the predicament he’d become chained by? *** The school bell ricocheted around Robin’s skull, signalling first period, as he wiped his tired eyes on his sleeve and tried to pull his brain threads into gear.
